Temporary Supported Accommodation
The Youth Housing Project assists young people aged 16-21 years of age who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. We offer temporary supported accommodation, and our housing is located on Brisbane’s inner-north.
The main requirements for young people to be housed and supported with YHP is that they have a basic level of independent living skills and that their support needs are not beyond the capacity of YHP, which is an externally supported independent-living model of service. YHP is about assisting young people in their transition to living independently within a community.
When a young person enters our program, they are paired with one of our Support Practitioners who they meet with fortnightly as a condition of their housing.
How do I link in?
The first step is that a young person emails or calls and they will hear from one of our Support Practitioners to discuss their situation and how we may be able to help.
If you are not pending with another housing service, then we will be able to set up a housing assessment with you at our office in Albion. The assessment is an opportunity for us to get to know you better and assess whether we are the right service for you.
Please note, we are not an immediate accommodation option and there is a wait for housing.
You can email us at manager@yhp.org.au, call our office directly on 07 3256 0241 or free call 1800 621 326. If you reach our voicemail, please leave a message and we will get back to you.
How do I refer a young person to YHP?
We encourage service providers or family/friends wanting to refer young people for housing with YHP to support the young person to contact YHP directly.
